Our Garden Expert Panel will answer all your gardening questions!

Jun 5 2012 7:00 pm

By now, you may have already chosen your vegetable plants or seeds and gotten at least a few of the cold weather plants into the ground. Maybe you've started planning improvements to a perennial garden. Maybe you're just starting to clean out beds and get ready for planting. Or maybe you aren't even sure where to start! Since we know so many of our customers are gardeners, and because we get in so many wonderful gardening books every spring, we decided to partner with local gardening center Pick of the Planet to bring you an expert gardening panel to answer all of your questions!

Pick of the Planet is a retail garden center located at 192 Breakfast Hill Road in Greenland, NH.  They began as a wholesale garden grower in 1999 and opened as a retail location this spring.

Penelope O'Sullivan is a local garden writer, author of The Homeowner's Complete Tree & Shrub Handbook: The Essential Guide to Choosing, Planting, and Maintaining Perfect Landscape Plants, co-author of The Pruning Answer Book, and owns her own garden design business.

Roanne Robbins is the author of The Continous Container Garden: Swap in the Plants of the Season to Create Fresh Designs Year-Round is a design consultant who specializes in creative plant and floral designs for small-space gardens, containers, and special occasions.

Ellen Sousa is the author of The Green Garden: A New England Guide to Planning, Planting, and Maintaining the Eco-Friendly Habitat Garden, which is a practical, comprehensive and inspirational guidebook for New Englanders looking for low-cost, beautiful and earth-friendly ways to green their landscapes and outdoor spaces and supply habitat for a variety of declining species, including birds, native pollinators, honey bees, amphibians and turtles.

Pick of the Planet will be providing plants for demonstrations and our expert panel will be prepared to answer any and all questions you throw at them! Don't miss it!

Why Shop Indie?

For every $100 you spend at a local indie business, $68 will stay in the community. When you spend that same $100 at a national chain, only $43 stays in your community.

Local businesses carry a wider array of unique products because they buy for their own market: the people in their community. They know you and know what you like and want.

You wouldn’t want your house to look like everyone else’s in the U.S. Why would you want your community to look that way? More diversity in your community enhances its appeal.

Even more reasons to shop indie...
